Annual Report -2017-2018

 

Introduction

The Dr.Virendra Swarup Library,Mahila Mahavidyalaya continues to be an essential component of the college  research and education mission. With The combination of carefully selected traditional and digital resources accessible via library Services. The interest exhibited by the Library Committee, commitment of talented library staff and the support of our management made the library a most lively place on the campus providing a safe, comfortable and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge, promotes discovery and facilitates scholarship.

Collection building

The range of subjects represented by the library collection, which stands at 67353 volumes,of study and research. Our collection comprising of books, journals and non-book material in Education Learning, humanities. The collection is heavily used our students and faculty .

All the newly acquired documents have been classified and entered in library software [SOUL] with a mechanized catalogue and kept ready for use.

Library Services

The library continues its efforts to improve services and facilities to support the research, teaching and learning endeavors of faculty, students and staff. It aims to provide easy access to high quality information and to increase the awareness and availability of services.

 

  • OPAC (On-line Public Access Catalogue)

The OPAC is one of the most heavily used databases of the library and is accessible via library software. OPAC is searchable by author, title, accession number, subject and several other fields.

  • Reference, Consultation

 

The main task of reference service is to connect users with right information. It provides necessary assistance to users in locating information or document of their choice.

  • Circulation

In addition to members, 2154+381 visitors including students, and faculty members used the library. It is open from 8.00am to 4.00pm hrs on all working days.

  • Reprography Service

 

Library provides photocopy services.

  • Current Awareness Services

 

The library continues to provide the following current awareness services in order to alert users about the latest information of their interest:

Infrastructure

The library acquired 02 new computers for OPAC and two new computers for CARS Section. The library has also acquired Library Software - ‘SOUL’.

Library acquired 10 steel Almirah to accommodate newly added books and two new tables for reading room.
